Deputy Executive Director Anita Bhatia visited Germany from 16-18 February to meet with the new government and members of the German Parliament and to exchange on the new Feminist Foreign Policy and Feminist Development Policy, Germany's G7 priorities and UN Women's Strategic Plan.

Deputy Executive Director Bhatia met with Parliamentary State Secretary Bärbel Kofler to discuss priorities for the new Feminist Development Policy, the UN Common Agenda and the nexus of climate and gender.

The exchange with Minister Spiegel centered around the gender focus of the new government, challenges and opportunities in the drive towards gender equality and the upcoming 66th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW66). Jointly with the Minister, Ms Bhatia addressed representatives of civil society in an online dialogue on the upcoming CSW66, hosted by the Ministry together with the German National Committee for UN Women, represented by its President Elke Ferner.

In addition, the Deputy Executive Director also met with the Chair of the Development Committee of the German Parliament, Thomas Rachel, and other members of the committee to discuss global gender equality challenges and opportunities, UN Women's triple mandate, the nexus between democracy and women's rights, climate change, digitalization, infrastructure and the structural damage wrought by COVID-19.
