- New pedestrian underpass for Ellenbrook Christian College is now open as part of the METRONET Morley-Ellenbrook Line
- The underpass will provide students and staff with safe access under the rail line between the school buildings and oval
- The train line will be built within the transit corridor reserved for rail development since the early 1990s
From today, the Ellenbrook Christian College school community can safely and easily walk between the school buildings and oval through a new pedestrian underpass, built as part of the METRONET Morley-Ellenbrook Line.
Located just south of the new Ellenbrook Station, the underpass was built to give students and staff a safe access point between school buildings and the oval while the new train line is built.
The Morley-Ellenbrook Line is located within a transit corridor reserved for rail development since the early 1990s.
The State Government has been working closely with the College since the project's planning phase to ensure minimal disruption to the students and has provided funding towards a new $2.8 million sport and recreation pavilion on the school oval.
The 21 kilometre Morley-Ellenbrook Line and five new stations will service Perth's north-east suburbs to support existing communities by improving transport connections and creating new communities through integrated station precincts.
As stated by Transport Minister Rita Saffioti:
"Form the outset, we've had a really positive working relationship with Ellenbrook Christian College and it's great to see the new underpass now completed and in use.
"Completing this underpass ensures the school facilities are well connected while work on the project continues.
"We would once again like to thank Ellenbrook Christian College and the extended Ellenbrook community for their ongoing support for this METRONET project.
"We will continue to work closely with communities along the Morley-Ellenbrook Line to minimise impact throughout the duration of construction."
