UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azoulay has called for an investigation into the killing of journalist Luis Gabriel Pereira in Ciénaga de Oro in the Colombian state of Córdoba on 9 May.
I condemn the killing of Luis Gabriel Pereira. Such attacks are used by perpetrators to silence journalists and have a devastating effect on freedom of expression. I call on the authorities to investigate the motives behind this crime and bring those responsible to justice.
