Unified Tertiary System to Equip Aussies with Key Skills

Universities Australia welcomes Jobs and Skills Australia's new report, Opportunity and Productivity: Towards a Tertiary Harmonisation Roadmap.

"The report makes one thing clear very clear – to meet Australia's growing skills demands, we must break down the walls between vocational training and universities," Universities Australia Chief Executive Officer Luke Sheehy said.

"Connecting these two high-quality sectors will create clear, seamless pathways for Australians to gain the skills they need in a changing job market.

"Our universities are central to building a skilled workforce for today and tomorrow.

"Some universities are already leading the way with joint-sector initiatives, integrating vocational training seamlessly into their offerings, but more can be done.

"Stronger ties with the vocational sector will pave the way for Australians to easily earn the qualifications they need.

"We look forward to continue the conversation with Commissioner, Professor Barney Glover, at our Solutions Summit next week.

"We remain committed to working in partnership with government, industry and the education community to create a world-class, integrated tertiary system."
