Next week, the TU/e welcomes about 2300 students during the annual introduction week. They will all immerse themselves in a jam-packed program to get to know each other, their program, the university, and the student city of Eindhoven. However, one size fits all no longer applies in 2024. This year's program includes more customization to accommodate the diversity among students and their needs. In addition, the focus on social safety is reinforced, including a theater performance to help all intro supervisors pay even better attention to this.
Photos of the introduction week 2024 will be added during the week.
This year's TU/e introduction week once again has a solid substantive character with a particular focus on the study programs and the university. But so many students, so many wishes. Therefore, parallel to the general program, three Welcome Days have been planned on August 16, 18, and 23 for international students who do not attend the introduction week. They will then receive a modified, shortened program, including a meet & greet and a pub quiz. Another option is the information market on Friday, Aug. 16, with specific practical information for internationals.
In addition, there is a Master intro for-a-day on August 19 for transfer students who stay at TU/e for a master's program after their bachelor's program. They already know the campus and city but would like to get to know their new fellow students. That is why they take a day out of the general introduction week and add the Master intro for-a-day to it.
Customization
During the general introduction week itself, more parts can be adapted to specific wishes, for example, for students who are not fans of partying and prefer more substantive activities. A low-stimulus intro is also possible and can be coordinated with the organization.
At the same time, this year the focus on social safety, which has been in place for some time, will be reinforced. New, for example, is an interactive theater performance for the intro guides, in which they learn in a serious but also humorous way about aspects such as peer pressure, respectful communication, and mutual consent (setting and maintaining boundaries).
Rutgers' 'Ben Je Oké campagne' also runs as a thread through the program. There will also be an info booth on social safety at the intro market, where new students can learn about various other essential university issues.
Parties, performances, and games
So far, the serious tone of the introduction week, in the end it is, of course, also about fun and an unforgettable start to student life. And that includes parties, performances, and games. For example, on Monday, there is a business case per department (which simultaneously serves as a campus tour) in which students have to collect items at various locations and use them to build a structure - related to their field of study. These works will be presented together on Tuesday, and twelve sports season tickets will be awarded to the winners.
There is, of course, no shortage of parties either, with a different conclusion on almost every day of the week, such as the Opening Party on Monday, parties of the department study associations on Tuesday, Eindhoven By Night on Wednesday, and the All TUegether Festival on Thursday (for both employees and students).
Eindhoven educational institutions together on Stadhuisplein
After a couple of recovery nights, the introduction will end extra grand on Wednesday, August 28, with The Intro Festival on the Stadhuisplein in Eindhoven, a party of the TU/e, Fontys Hogescholen, Summa College and SintLucas where students from both MBO, HBO and university can dance together until the wee hours. Tickets for this are not free, but the TU/e sponsors a thousand of them for its students.
This way, the organization of the introduction week has put together a program in which togetherness and diversity go hand in hand. The entire program and other information about the introduction week can be found here.
