University of Barcelona

The University of Barcelona is the leading Catalan university and the second research institution that has received the most funding from the Next Generation programme, with 77 million euros, second only to the Barcelona Supercomputing Centre. This is indicated by the data published yesterday by the Government of Catalonia, which shows the main beneficiaries of the funds in Catalonia. In total, 5,390 million euros were distributed to 52,461 beneficiaries, including companies, local corporations, research centres, non-profit organisations, individuals and other public sector entities.

The Government of Catalonia has launched an interactive viewer with information on the real impact of these funds in Catalonia. It is possible to consult how these resources have been distributed in calls for proposals, tenders and direct concessions. In the field of research, 985 million euros have been distributed. The Barcelona Supercomputing Centre and the UB are followed by the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, with fifty-five million, and the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, with more than forty million.

The seventy-seven million the UB received are distributed as follows: 50.11 million have been obtained through calls in Spain, 23.68 million are direct grants and the remaining 3.44 million are from calls from Catalonia.
