The University of Adelaide's North Terrace campus is transforming into a sanctuary of light, art and music with LUMEN Bar and City Lights for the winter festival running from Thursday 4 July to Sunday 21 July.

"The University of Adelaide is excited to host City Lights and LUMEN Bar on our North Terrace Campus as a part of the incredible Illuminate Adelaide program," said Dr Jessica Gallagher, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (External Engagement), the University of Adelaide.

"The festival celebrates talented artists and creative minds, aligning with core values of the university. We're delighted to welcome all members of the community to enjoy the unique immersive experiences."

Showcasing a program of local and international artists, City Lights presents free installations, projections, and interactive works scattered around the city at Adelaide's iconic locations. This includes the University of Adelaide's Bonython Hall which presents the Australian premier of intangible #form by Japanese artist Shohei Fujimoto.

The mind-bending installation uses state-of-the-art projections and lasers to create fluid, ever-changing structures that feel both real and intangible, high-tech and magical.

"We are thrilled to partner with University of Adelaide. It's exciting to use incredible buildings, steeped in history and stories, such as Bonython Hall as homes for our City Lights installations," said Illuminate Adelaide co-founders and creative directors Lee Cumberlidge and Rachael Azzopardi.

"Our innovative event will seamlessly integrate with the University of Adelaide and their forward-thinking strategies, celebrating creativity and pushing boundaries."

Sitting just beside Bonython Hall's intangible #form on Goodman Lawns is LUMEN Bar, the University's cosy retreat created in collaboration with the National Wine Centre.

This year, LUMEN Bar welcomes guests into a 60s inspired Japanese 'Jazz Kissa' - which is known as a niche café specialising in whisky, jazz, vinyl and high-end audio systems.

Rotating vinyl DJs will perform each night from 4:30pm, showcasing the city's finest selectors including Sharnibanarni, Fantastic Black Plastic, Cazeaux O.S.L.O., Paradise Loft, and more.

From Thursdays to Sundays, record collectors with host vinyl sales welcoming attendees to add to their collections with genres from jazz, funk, and soul, to disco, rock, and reggae.

The food menu features a selection of charcuterie, from Spanish style aged chorizo to Onkaparinga creamy brie, as well as Japanese-inspired bites such as karaage fried chicken, kabocha pumpkin arancini, and potato gnocchi with mushroom ragu for something a little heartier on a winter's night.

Exemplary South Australian wines will be on offer, as well as Japanese spirits, and Illuminate Adelaide special edition beer.

Attendees can choose between a violet fizz cocktail and a classic espresso martini, among other cocktail delights to elevate their after-work drinks. Meanwhile, free wine tastings will be on offer on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 4:30pm to 6pm.
