Police have arrested six people after intercepting two stolen vehicles in the Townsville area this morning.
Around 9.30am, police successfully deployed a tyre deflation device to intercept an alleged stole Kia Rio at Riverside Drive.
The Kia was stolen from Annandale Drive, Annandale last night around 10.45pm during a burglary.
Four males, aged 13, 15 and 16, were arrested at the scene and taken into custody.
At noon today, police intercepted an alleged stolen Hyundai i20 and arrested a man and two teenage girls at Derby Street, Pimlico.
The Hyundai was stolen during a burglary at Jindalee Crescent, Douglas between 2.30am and 6am yesterday morning, February 28. A grey Holden Cruze which was also stolen during the burglary, remains outstanding.
Chief Superintendent Craig Hanlon said these alleged stolen vehicles have been taken off the road thanks to the excellent police work and tireless efforts of the officers involved.
"Townsville police will continue to target anyone who chooses to steal a car and drive dangerously, endangering the community and themselves," Chief Superintendent Hanlon said.
