The Words Out West Festival sees the return of its highly anticipated Writers Retreat on Saturday 22 March 2025, featuring the renowned author and writing mentor, Sarah Armstrong.

Set against the serene backdrop of Jubri's Hideaway, the retreat presents an opportunity for aspiring writers to focus on their craft and immerse themselves in engaging workshops throughout the day.

The retreat is designed to provide a supportive environment for writers to connect with fellow authors and find inspiration. Open to writers of all backgrounds, participants will benefit from the wealth of knowledge and experience shared by esteemed facilitators.

Sarah Armstrong, an Australian novelist and former journalist at ABC Radio, will lead the highlight workshop, 'Writing & Rewriting – The Fundamentals', exploring key aspects of writing craft and manuscript preparation.

Western Downs Regional Council Mayor Andrew Smith said Words Out West focuses on empowering creativity and connection within our community.

"Having Sarah Armstrong at our 2025 Writers Retreat is an incredible opportunity for participants to learn from one of the best in the field," Mayor Smith said.

"Her experience and insights will undoubtedly inspire and elevate the writing of all attendees."

As part of the wider Words Out West Festival, the Writers Retreat plays an important role in promoting literary arts and supporting emerging writers within the community.

"It's an opportunity to explore our region's local cafes, parks, precincts, and small businesses throughout their stay," Mayor Smith said.

"We look forward to welcoming writers to Jubri's Hideaway in Dalby for an unforgettable experience."
