Unlicensed Builder Slapped with $20K Fine for Permit, Insurance Lapses

Sergio Vera, the owner of Instyle Pools and Spas, committed multiple breaches of the Building Act 1993.

Vera, who was not a registered builder, engaged in construction activities in Diamond Creek without the necessary registration or permits. The Victorian Building Authority's (VBA) investigation revealed that Vera not only failed to secure the required permits but also did not comply with a coercive notice to produce insurance documents.

As a result. Vera has been charged and convicted by a Magistrate and ordered to pay $20,000.
