Unlicensed rider detected speeding more than 100km/h over limit near Wagga Wagga

Police have charged a 30-year-old man after he was detected speeding more than 100km/h over the legal limit near Wagga Wagga yesterday.

About 11.30pm (Tuesday 3 November 2020), Riverina Highway Patrol officers received information that a black motorcycle was detected allegedly travelling at 205km/h in a 100km/h zone on the Hume Highway, and then the Olympic Highway at Table Top.

Police initiated a pursuit which was terminated soon afterwards due to safety concerns.

The motorcycle was located a short time later in Wagga Wagga unattended and on its side.

A search of the area with the assistance of the Dog Unit located the rider, who was arrested and taken to Wagga Wagga Police Station.

Police checks revealed that the rider did not hold a motorcycle licence, and his NSW class C provisional drivers licence is disqualified until the 03 March 2022, after previously being involved in a pursuit with police.

He was charged with drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous (second offence), police pursuit - not stop - drive at speed (second offence), drive motor vehicle during disqualification period (second offence) and unlawfully possess thing resembles etc number plate. He was also charged with breach of bail.

The man was refused bail to appear at Wagga Wagga Local Court today (Wednesday 4 November 2020).
