The Albanese Government continues to partner with Snowy Monaro Regional Council to deliver local priority projects, with over $1.1 million flowing to upgrades at the Lake Jindabyne Foreshore.
A popular destination for both locals and tourists, this investment will support the replacement of 20 existing light poles along the Jindabyne Foreshore with fit-for-purpose LED solar lighting - boosting safety.
This funding will also support upgrading the Jindabyne Claypits carpark, which currently requires significant maintenance due to weather events.
The carpark will be sealed and its drainage will be improved - reducing on-going maintenance and ensuring more vehicles can safely utilise the site.
These improvements will ensure the local community can continue to enjoy this popular recreational precinct in the heart of Jindabyne, and that it is better equipped for increased visitation on weekends and during holiday periods.
These upgrades will commence in February next year and be completed by June 2025 - and are being delivered as part of $2.7 million flowing to Snowy Monaro Regional Council, under Phase 4 of the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program.
Nationally, the Albanese Government is delivering significant funding increases to support local councils progress their priority projects.
The Roads to Recovery program is progressively increasing from $500 million to $1 billion per year, with Snowy Monaro Regional Council to receive $15.3 million over the next five years - a $6.6 million boost thanks to the Albanese Government.
The Road Black Spot Program is also increasing from $110 million to $150 million per year, and $50 million has been added to the new $200 million per year Safer Local Roads and Infrastructure Program.
