The Council holds a briefing today on the threat posed by Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL/Da'esh), under its agenda on threats to international peace and security caused by terrorist acts.
It will consider the twenty-first report of the Secretary-General on the threat posed by ISIL (Da'esh) to international peace and security and the range of United Nations efforts in support of Member States in countering the threat (document S/2025/496 ).
Vladimir Voronkov, Under-Secretary-General, United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism; Natalia Gherman, Executive Director of the Counter-Terrorism Committee Executive Directorate (CTED); and Elisa De Anda Madrazo, President of the Financial Action Task Force, will brief on the subject.
