COOPERATION BETWEEN THE UNITED NATIONS AND REGIONAL AND SUBREGIONAL ORGANIZATIONS IN MAINTAINING INTERNATIONAL PEACE AND SECURITY (S/2024/538)

Today, the Security council met to discuss cooperation between the United Nations and regional and subregional organizations, including the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. The Council was briefed by Elizabeth Spehar, Assistant Secretary-General for Peacebuilding Support, Department of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs; Zhang Ming, Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation; Imangali Tasmagambetov, Secretary-General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO); and Sergey Lebedev, Secretary-General of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).
