Upcoming Change To Vanderbilt Box

Vanderbilt University

Important changes regarding Vanderbilt Box will be implemented in the coming weeks. These changes are part of ongoing efforts to enhance data security, streamline processes and improve collaboration across the university.

Starting Sunday, Sept. 1, Vanderbilt IT will begin changing the status of Box accounts for users who leave Vanderbilt to 'Inactive.' This means that any data shared from such accounts will no longer be accessible and applies even if other active users have co-ownership of the data. Deactivated Box accounts will be retained for six months, during which time active users can request access to this data through VUIT.

Before departing from Vanderbilt, it is highly recommended to transfer the ownership of any files and folders shared with other Vanderbilt employees.
