Update 7: Concerns About Tent Camp: WUR

In early July 2024, the Executive Board (EB) decided that it would not be the right route to sever ties with Israeli knowledge institutions. This decision meant that we had to note that the EB and the activists on the bridge disagree on a fundamental level.

the bridge between Forum and Orion. We notice that only one person remains permanently on the bridge. Recently, it became clear that this person has no permanent place of residence other than the bridge. We are concerned about the clearly unsuitable location for permanent residence and the risks to hygiene and health. This is in addition to the fact that overnight stays - let alone permanent residence - on campus are not allowed.

From a human perspective (care and safety), WUR employees have continuously kept in contact with this person. Also, Rector Magnificus Carolien Kroeze recently had a personal conversation with this person and also shared her concerns. Once again, she pointed out the dangers and consequences of permanently staying on the bridge. Nevertheless, the person has decided to stay.

WUR is now looking with the Wageningen municipality at how to bring this increasingly worrying situation to an end.
