Planned works to remove sugar gums along Natimuk Road have been suspended indefinitely so that options to retain the trees can be re-investigated.
Following advice from an arborist, Horsham Rural City Council had this month planned to remove gum trees located between Hillary Street and Bennett Road due to their poor condition.
"Following our consultation with nearby residents and the wider community, we heard from multiple people who were opposed to the removal of the sugar gums," Chief Executive Officer Sunil Bhalla said.
"As a result, Council has decided not to proceed with the scheduled works.
"We will work with our arborists to see if the problems being caused by these trees can be resolved without them being removed," he said.
