Update On Beam Investigation

councilnews.png

The City of Hobart is continuing its investigation into hire and ride e-scooter operator Beam after issuing a show cause notice earlier this month.

The show cause notice followed media reports of misconduct in other areas and how these claims might impact Beam's operations in Hobart.

Beam has been asked to engage with the City of Hobart in good faith while independent investigations continue into these allegations.

The City has been clear in its expectations of Beam in respect to the independent investigation as well as the operations under the permit whilst the investigation is being carried out.

No final decision regarding their Hobart permit will be made until the investigations are complete.

Quotes to be attributed to City of Hobart CEO Michael Stretton:

"This process ensures fairness for both Beam and the City of Hobart.

"The investigations are expected to conclude by the end of September at which point the City will make a final decision on Beam's permit, considering the findings and legal advice."
