Following the recent completion of preparatory works, Council's contractor has begun work this week in Berridale on the major water infrastructure upgrade project announced in April 2024.

Underway from now until mid-October 2024, this project will see the replacement and renewal of approximately four kilometres of water mains. These upgrades will improve the reliability of Berridale's water supply, ensuring residents have dependable access to clean, safe drinking water well into the future.

Important information for the Berridale community:

  • Work is underway through mid-October 2024, weather permitting
  • Construction hours are 7am to 5pm on weekdays and 8am to 2pm on Saturdays
  • The main focus is on Myack Street, with some work on connecting streets including Short Street and Mary Street
  • Minor works will occur on Boundary Street to upgrade isolated hydrant points
  • Temporary disruptions to footpaths and driveways may be required, most likely on the western side of Myack Street
  • Water supply interruptions are not expected at this stage, except in the case of emergency repairs

This project will replace ageing infrastructure, helping to prevent future failures and leaks, improve water quality, and accommodate Berridale's continuing growth over the coming years.

Residents and motorists are asked to be mindful of workers and machinery on roadways across Berridale while work is underway. Council's project team is working to minimise disruptions to residents and businesses from this project as much as possible.

Council appreciates the community's patience and understanding while this important work is carried out.
