The Bredbo Transfer Station will resume its standard operating hours following the removal of asbestos sheet debris from the surface of the waste disposal area.
An asbestos assessor has confirmed a thorough visual inspection at the site found no visible asbestos residue from asbestos removal work in the area, or in the vicinity of the area, where the work was carried out.
The asbestos removal work area can now be dismantled and the area safely reoccupied.
Numeralla
The Numeralla Transfer Station will reopen with the general waste and recycling areas of the facility returning to standard operating hours. Asbestos sheet debris around the site office and waste transfer bins has been removed.
An asbestos assessor has confirmed a thorough visual inspection at the site found no visible asbestos residue from asbestos removal work in the area, or in the vicinity of the area, where the work was carried out. The asbestos removal work area can now be dismantled and the area safely reoccupied.
Green waste and scrap metal areas will remain temporarily closed pending further advice and remediation works.
Nimmitabel
The Nimmitabel Transfer Station will return to normal operating hours with the general waste and recycling skips open to the public.
Asbestos sheet debris has been removed from the surface of the waste disposal area. The asbestos assessor has confirmed that an exclusion zone is to be maintained until remediation works are completed. The exclusion zone will mean the scrap metal and green waste disposal areas are closed.
The scheduled openings of Bredbo (Friday), Numeralla (Saturday) and Nimmitabel (Sunday) will now be able to proceed for the long weekend.
