Update On Police Officer Who Performed Nazi Salute

Victoria Police has finalised the criminal investigation into allegations a sergeant from People Development Command performed a Nazi gesture on two occasions in October 2024.

Late last year detectives from Professional Standards Command compiled a brief of evidence in relation to two charges of public performance of a nazi gesture.

As per the standard process when any charges are considered against a police officer, the brief of evidence was sent to the Office of Public Prosecutions (OPP) for assessment.

We have since received advice from OPP that, based on the circumstances, there is no reasonable prospect of conviction.

The police officer continues to be suspended while the internal discipline investigation process proceeds.
