The driver of a vehicle that crashed in New Plymouth earlier this month has died in hospital.
The crash on Northgate happened shortly after 1:30am on September 9.
Prior to the crash, Police had signalled for the vehicle to stop.
The driver of the vehicle failed to stop and drove off at speed.
Police activated lights and sirens to engage, but immediately self-abandoned due to the manner of driving.
A short time later, Police came across the vehicle crashed on Northgate, approximately 1.5 kilometres from where the vehicle was last sighted by staff.
The driver of the vehicle was in a critical condition, and yesterday [Sunday] passed away at Waikato Hospital.
He was 21-year-old Justice Grace, of Waitara.
Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the crash and the Independent Police Conduct Authority have been notified.
