The Emergency Management (Arrivals Associated No 1) (COVID-19) Direction 2021 has been revoked and replaced by the Emergency Management (Arrivals Associated No 2) (COVID-19) Direction 2021. This Direction came into effect at 4.56pm on 26 November 2021.
Key changes include:
Testing Requirements:
From 12.01am on 28 November 2021: Travellers entering South Australia from Low Risk or Moderate Risk LGAs will need to show evidence of a negative COVID-19 test result within 72 hours before arrival.
Alternatively they can have a COVID-19 test when they arrive in South Australia and quarantine until they receive a negative test result.
Close contacts:
A close contact of a person diagnosed with COVID-19 in the past 7 days prior to arrival in South Australia is not permitted to enter the state.
If they have been a close contact in the past 14 days prior to arrival they must submit to a COVID-19 test on the 13th day after that contact, this is in addition to any other COVID-19 test required on their entry approval.
Note: A vaccinated domestic violence arrival that has been identified as a close contact of someone diagnosed with COVID-19 within the period of 7 days prior to arrival will be treated as a high risk traveller and will need to quarantine for 7 days.
An unvaccinated domestic violence arrival would have to quarantine for 14 days as outlined for all unvaccinated arrivals.
Cross Border Community (NSW and Victoria):
Cross Border Community members who leave the Cross Border Corridor for 72 hours or less and travel to a very low risk or low risk LGA have no requirement when next entering South Australia.
Cross Border Community members who leave the Corridor for more than 72 hours and travel to a low risk LGA then enter South Australia within 7 days are required to:
- Provide evidence of a negative COVID-19 test before they arrive in SA OR
- COVID-19 test upon arrival in SA and quarantine until negative result.
Cross Border Community members who leave Corridor for 72 hours or less and travel to a low or moderate risk LGA and enter South Australia within 7 days will be required to:
- Provide evidence of a negative COVID-19 test before they arrive in SA OR
- COVID-19 test upon arrival in SA and quarantine until negative result.
Cross Border Community members who leave the Cross Border Corridor for 72 hours or less and travel to a high risk LGA or arrive from overseas and enter South Australia within 7 days will be treated as high risk entries and will be subject to those requirements.
For Cross Border Community members who travel beyond the Cross Border Corridor into South Australia with a person or people less than 12 years and 2 months, all travellers are required to:
- COVID-19 test taken in 72 hours prior to arrival in SA
- COVID-19 test upon arrival in SA
- Quarantine until negative test result
- Daily symptom check for 14 days after arrival using HealthCheck SA
Nhill Arrivals
Nhill residents arriving in South Australia will need to have a negative test result before they enter the state or are required to have a COVID-19 test on arrival and quarantine until they receive a negative test result.
If a person from Nhill is already in South Australia they will need to provide to an authorised officer evidence of a negative COVID-19 test result in the past 7 days. This is only required if requested.
Other existing requirements remain.
