Upgrade for Bridge Street water main

Toowoomba Regional Council is planning to upgrade the water main on Bridge Street between Raff Street and just east of Mary Street, Toowoomba.

Council's Water and Waste Committee Chair Cr Rebecca Vonhoff said the water main replacement would help to improve the reliability of the water supply to that area.

"The works will involve construction of a new water main on the roadway which will mean temporary road and footpath closures," Cr Vonhoff said.

"During the first stage of works, Bridge Street will be closed to westbound traffic between Hume and Raff streets.

"During the second stage, Bridge Street will be closed to eastbound traffic between Hume and Mary streets. These closures will apply during work hours."

Works are expected to start around 27 July and take about 10 weeks, weather permitting.

Construction crews will liaise with residents about driveway and water supply disruptions.

Council thanks residents and motorists for their patience and co-operation during these works.
