Upgrading Tennant Creek's sporting facilities

5 July 2024

The Lawler Labor Government is continuing to upgrade sporting facilities with the $9 million upgrade of the Purkiss Recreational Reserve in Tennant Creek nearing completion.

The upgrade will improve a range of facilities for numerous sports and create additional on-street parking at the site for participants.

The works include a new multipurpose playing field, cricket nets, outdoor exercise stations, shared pathways, seating and picnic tables and refurbishment of the tennis courts to form four multipurpose tennis and netball courts.

A concrete pour for the new northern car park took place earlier this month, along with new on-street parking.

New turf is scheduled to be laid this month. The project is expected to be fully complete in August.

The contract to undertake the major works were awarded to local company, Remote Concrete NT.
