Highlighting its commitment to patient safety and quality, UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh was named one of The Leapfrog Group's prestigious Top Children's Hospitals, which is one of the most competitive awards American hospitals can receive. UPMC Children's is one of only 8 pediatric hospitals in the nation named to this elite class.
"We are honored to once again receive this national recognition and be named one of Leapfrog's Top Children's Hospitals," said Diane Hupp, president, UPMC Children's Hospital. "This award recognizes our incredible team of physicians, nurses and staff who always put our patients first and provide the highest-quality compassionate care in the safest environment for our families."
UPMC Children's was selected as a Top Hospital in this annual survey, which measures performance across many areas of hospital care, including infection rates, practices for safer surgery, maternity care and the hospital's capacity to prevent medication errors.
"This is a testament to the clinicians and staff at UPMC Children's Hospital to be nationally recognized for their continued passion and commitment to provide the safest, most efficient care every day to patients and families," said Tami Minnier, UPMC's chief quality officer.
The list also includes 36 Top General Hospitals, 15 Top Rural Hospitals and 75 Top Teaching Hospitals.
