PITTSBURGH — The UPMC Heart Transplant Program continues to be the national leader in heart transplant outcomes. Data just released by the Scientific Registry of Transplant Recipients (SRTR) reveals that UPMC is the top transplant program in the country in 90-day survival rates following adult heart transplants.
The SRTR data evaluated all adult heart transplants in the United States from July 2021 through December 2023. During that period, UPMC's heart transplant recipients had an estimated 100% survival rate in the first 90 days after transplant. The UPMC Heart Transplant Program also ranks among the top in the nation for patient survival rates one-year post transplant, with an estimated rate of 96.54%.
"This new data exemplifies the outstanding talent and skill of entire transplant team," says David Kaczorowski, M.D., surgical director, UPMC Heart Transplant. "Our mission is to always provide the best care possible and offer every patient in need of a heart transplant the second chance at life they deserve."
