USAID Deputy Administrator Meets with OECD Development Assistance Committee Chairman

USAID

Today, Deputy Administrator Coleman met with the Chair of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development's (OECD) Development Assistance Committee (DAC) Ambassador Carsten Staur. The two spoke about reconstruction efforts in Ukraine, locally-led development, and upholding the integrity of Official Development Assistance (ODA).

The Deputy Administrator emphasized the important role the DAC can play in galvanizing donors on Ukraine's tremendous needs for recovery and reconstruction, an area where private sector investment will be critical for a path forward. At the same time, she also reiterated USAID's position that ODA should remain directed to the countries most in need and least able to access other sources of finance.

They discussed the importance of locally-led development and agreed that the OECD/DAC is well-placed to work on best practices and strengthening measurement approaches for locally-led development.
