USAID's Power in Talks with Cargill CEO Brian Sikes

Today, USAID Administrator Samantha Power met with Cargill President and CEO Brian Sikes. The Administrator and Mr. Sikes discussed shared priorities related to global food security and agriculture-led growth, and support to Ukraine's embattled farmers.

The Administrator highlighted USAID's efforts under the Feed the Future and Democracy Delivers initiatives that support countries with significant agricultural potential. The Administrator and Mr. Sikes also discussed how USAID and Cargill can partner to address constraints to sustainable, agriculture-led growth in Africa and Central America by improving the business-enabling environment, scaling climate-smart innovations, and empowering agricultural workers.

As USAID's Agriculture Resilience Initiative-Ukraine (AGRI-Ukraine) continues which helps Ukraine's farmers and agribusinesses, the Administrator and Mr. Cargill discussed ways in which USAID and Cargill can partner to bolster Ukraine's agriculture sector and contribute to the country's long-term economic recovery.
