USAID's Samantha Power Meets UK Minister Andrew Mitchell

Today, Administrator Samantha Power met with the British Minister of State for Development and Africa Andrew Mitchell to discuss U.S.-UK development cooperation.

Administrator Power and Minister Mitchell discussed support for the Horn of Africa, and ways to continue to address the food security crisis. The Administrator stressed the important role the UK has played in providing assistance to Ukraine and the need to address the ongoing humanitarian situation. They also discussed the importance of mobilizing financing and private sector actions to address climate change, as well as the critical role of development finance through the respective institutions of the U.S. and UK.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Administrator Power and Minister Mitchell signed a Memorandum of Understanding to formalize USAID's and the UK's partnership on education. The MOU will build on and further our joint work to improve learning outcomes and reach the most marginalized children, particularly girls.
