The UT Arlington Police Department (UTA PD) has achieved reaccreditation through the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators (IACLEA). This marks the agency's fifth reaccreditation award since becoming accredited through IACLEA in 2010. UTA PD is one of only 1.5% of college or university police departments to achieve accreditation through IACLEA, the leading authority for campus public safety.
The accreditation process combines reviews of comprehensive policies and procedures and a site visit to determine the agency's compliance with all applicable standards. IACLEA accreditation is for a four-year period, with periodic updates between formal assessments.
Kim Lemaux, chief of police, commented on the IACLEA accreditation:
"We are incredibly proud to receive our fifth reaccreditation from IACLEA. This achievement reflects our unwavering commitment to maintaining the highest standards of campus safety and law enforcement. Our team works diligently to ensure that we not only meet, but exceed the rigorous criteria set forth by IACLEA. This reaccreditation is a testament to the dedication and professionalism of every member of the UT Arlington Police Department. We remain steadfast in our mission to provide a safe and secure environment for our students, faculty, staff, and visitors."
IACLEA is the largest professional association devoted to excellence in campus public safety and law enforcement. Today, IACLEA has 9,000-plus memberships, currently filled by 4,000 leaders in campus public safety represented by 1,000-plus higher education institutions in 31 countries.
The UTA PD is also accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, receiving an Advanced Accreditation with Excellence designation in 2024.
