Natimuk Economic and Social Plan Advisory Committee is currently seeking new members.
The committee plays a crucial role in supporting and advising council to ensure the successful implementation of the Natimuk Economic and Social Plan.
Purpose and Objectives
The Advisory Committee aims to represent the broader community and work closely with Council to implement the actions identified in the Natimuk Economic and Social Plan.
The plan focuses on four strategic objectives:
- Boosting business, tourism, and the economy
- Promoting an environmentally sustainable community
- Enhancing recreational opportunities
- Strengthening relationships within the community
Role and Responsibilities
While the Project Advisory Committee (PAC) is not a decision-making body, it plays a vital role in:
- Identifying key issues related to the implementation of the plan
- Providing representative insight and advice on various issues, including climbing at Mount Arapiles (Dyurrite), water for Lake Natimuk, business, economy, tourism, relationships with traditional owners, climate and sustainability, and the relationship with HRCC
- Offering guidance on potential solutions for implementing the plan
- Acting as a communication conduit to the community during the implementation phase
- Making recommendations for council to consider
Scope and Engagement
The PAC will work collaboratively with Council staff, providing advice to support Council's decision-making process. The committee's deliberations and recommendations will be documented and communicated to the Council at the next available meeting.
Current Vacancies
The committee is currently advertising two vacant positions:
- A younger person (aged 16-25)
- A member with an interest in sustainability and the environment
These positions offer a unique opportunity for community members to contribute to the development and implementation of initiatives that will shape the future of Natimuk.
