Vaccine Roll Out: Zero Accountability and Transparency: Why?
"The Federal Government told us that all the most at risk Australians would be vaccinated by the end of March," said Dr Tim Woodruff, President, Doctors Reform Society. "It has failed miserably to achieve that aim. Yet it refuses to explain to the Australian public why?? Indeed Health Minister Hunt seems incapable of offering anything better than that 'we remain on track'. On track to where?", asked Dr Woodruff. "Are we on track to more shutdowns and unnecessary deaths? Does 'on track' just mean vaccinations have started and they will continue but that he has no idea when targets will be reached? If so, why won't he tell us?"
"Because of the bungled roll out, some Australians may be infected, and some may die. Yet we are not told why", said Dr Woodruff. "Instead, the Prime Minister blames the States but even his Liberal Party State colleagues in NSW says he is wrong. Where is the truth about this bungle?"
Why is it that businesses are still struggling and can expect to continue to do so because the Federal Government has failed to meet its stated targets? asked Dr Woodruff. "Why is it that some employees in certain industries will remain unemployed because of restrictions but have no idea how long it will be before their businesses will be up and running again?"
"Why is it that the Government's outsourcing to private agencies has failed to deliver? Why are we not hearing what the specific problems holding up the roll out are? How much of the delay in the roll out is due to production problems of the Astra Zeneca vaccine? Why can't the population be informed?
"Why is it that the Australian Defence Force is not being used to deliver vaccines given their logistic expertise and the fact that they are available at minimal extra cost to set up vaccination hubs throughout the country. Why can't we do what the USA and the UK have done and have a fast roll out of vaccination with clear information about what is happening, what the hold ups are and what the Government is doing to address the hold ups?"
"Why is accountability and transparency so lacking?", asked Dr Woodruff.
