Vasey RSL Care

Vasey RSL Care is honoured to announce that it has been awarded a Victoria Remembers Grant for the creation of a memorial at its Brighton East Residential Aged Care facility. The funding was officially announced by Victorian State Member for the Southern Metropolitan Region, Ryan Batchelor MP, who visited the site to share the exciting news with residents and staff.

The memorial will serve as a tribute to all who have served in the Australian and allied forces, as well as to Mrs Jessie Mary Vasey OBE CBE, whose vision and dedication forming Vasey Housing in the 1950s continues through the work Vasey RSL Care does to support veterans and their families today.

With 128 residents calling Brighton East home, this meaningful addition to the facility will provide a dedicated space for reflection, commemoration and education, ensuring the legacy of service and sacrifice is honoured for generations to come. The residents warmly welcomed Mr Batchelor, expressing their excitement about the project and extending an invitation for him to return once the memorial is complete.

"We are really thankful to the Victorian Government for their support with this project. This memorial will be a cherished part of our Brighton East home, offering a lasting tribute to those who have served and a place of significance for our residents, their families and the broader community," Vasey RSL Care Acting Chief Executive Officer Tamara Paton said.

"I am proud to support Vasey RSL Care in creating this important memorial at their Brighton East Residential Aged Care facility. This tribute will ensure that the service and sacrifice of Australian and allied forces, as well as the legacy of Mrs Jessie Mary Vasey, are honoured and remembered for generations to come. It's wonderful to see the enthusiasm of the residents, and I look forward to returning once the memorial is complete." Mr Batchelor added.

The memorial is anticipated to become an integral part of the facility, providing a meaningful place of remembrance and a connection to history for all who visit Vasey RSL Care Brighton East Residential Aged Care.
