New State Building Surveyor
It is with immense gratitude and a profound sense of duty that I introduce myself as Victoria's new State Building Surveyor.
This role carries with it significant responsibility, and I am honoured to have been entrusted with this position.
As I step into this role, I am acutely aware of the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.
The building and construction industry in Victoria is a vital part of our state's economy. Ensuring the safety, sustainability, and quality of our buildings is not just a professional mandate to me as a building surveyor, but a moral obligation to our community.
The statutory appointment of the State Building Surveyor earlier this year has equipped me with additional functions and powers to strengthen the status and effectiveness of this important role.
My focus will be on fostering a collaborative environment where innovation thrives, and best practices are shared.
By working more closely with industry professionals, government and the community, I believe we can build a safer, more resilient and sustainable construction industry for Victoria.
I would also like to take a moment to acknowledge and thank the outgoing State Building Surveyor, Andrew Cialini.
Andrew's leadership and dedication have been exemplary. His commitment to excellence, tireless efforts and invaluable contributions have made a lasting impact on our industry.
I am grateful for his guidance over the past five years and the legacy he leaves behind. I thank him for his time as State Building Surveyor and for paving the way for future progress.
VBA Industry Conference
I've joined at a particularly exciting time, as the Victorian Building Authority (VBA) hosted its first Industry Conference in Geelong earlier this month, where we were greeted by more than 180 passionate and enthusiastic practitioners. Thank you to those that attended and participated at this event.
The VBA Industry Conference is bringing together prominent VBA and industry leaders to discuss emerging trends and regulatory approaches impacting the building and plumbing industries.
Geelong was the first of five stops with upcoming events in Ballarat, Melbourne, Morwell and Shepparton.
