The Victorian Building Authority (VBA) is pleased to share the outcomes from four research projects it has supported that focused on water ingress.
The VBA has a statutory function to conduct or promote research relevant to the building and plumbing industries.
Our Research Program has focused on water ingress to give us the evidence to inform our regulatory decisions and influence improvements to the building system.
The key insights from these projects align with and support proposed changes to the National Construction Code (NCC) 2025 for condensation, water-shedding and waterproofing.
These insights also support the VBA's efforts to provide targeted and practical guidance to improve practitioner competency and capability and have informed how Victorian homes can be better built to mitigate risks of water ingress and mould growth.
