VCAT Enforcement Proceedings, Riddell Road, Sunbury

Hume City Council has commenced enforcement proceedings in the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT) in relation to ongoing earthworks being undertaken in contravention of the Hume Planning Scheme on land at Riddell Road, Sunbury.

Council recognises that the ongoing works could pose a significant risk to the environment and the community, and it has commenced these proceedings as a means of ensuring that any immediate risk is swiftly and appropriately managed.

As part of VCAT proceedings, Council has applied for an interim enforcement order which will require any ongoing works to immediately cease, and not recommence, until the matter is determined. Council has also applied for an enforcement order which would require the owners and occupier of the land to rehabilitate the land as far as practicable to its condition before the unlawful works commenced.

Hume City Council will provide a further update once the VCAT process is complete.
