Banyule Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating the theft of a rare green coloured Holden Commodore sedan from Ivanhoe on Sunday evening.
It's believed an unknown offender stole the vehicle from an address on Lower Heidelberg Road sometime between 5.30pm and 8.30pm.
The victim has owned the vehicle since it was first released to market in 1984 and has maintained it in a pristine condition.
Its registration number is CAJ-054 and investigators have released an image of the vehicle in the hope someone recognises it.
