AVA

The Australian Veterinary Association (AVA) acknowledges the recent federal cabinet reshuffle announced by the Australian Labor Party. We extend our thanks to Minister Brendan O'Connor for his dedicated service and contributions to the veterinary sector during his tenure.

We welcome Minister Julie Collins to her new role as Agriculture Minister. The AVA is eager to engage with Minister Collins and her team and foster a productive partnership to advance the interests of the veterinary profession and recognise its significant contribution to animal health and welfare and to communities across Australia.

We also wish to congratulate Senator Murray Watt on his new portfolio as the Minister for Employment and Workplace Relations and we look forward to his continued support of the veterinary sector in his new role.

AVA president, Dr Sally Colgan, said "The AVA remains committed to supporting the government in its efforts to collaborate with the veterinary profession and recognise our essential role in ensuring the health and welfare of the animals, people and communities vets serve. We are confident that these new appointments will bring positive advancements for the veterinary profession and look forward to working with the new Ministers."
