Veterinary Wholesale Training for Qualified Persons

The VMD is running an in-person training course at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole on Wednesday 16 October 2024.

This will introduce the role and responsibilities of the Wholesale Qualified Person (WQP) and the legislative requirements for wholesale distribution.

Delivered by the VMD's highly experienced inspectors the event will feature a blend of lectures, discussion, and practical activities. Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions and gain practical support and guidance, engage with practical exercises featuring real-life challenges and scenarios, and network with other delegates and share best practice.

The event is suited to persons who are seeking to become a WQP, existing WQPs wishing to refresh their understanding, and for businesses looking to become wholesale dealers of veterinary medicines. Event topics include:

  • The Veterinary Medicines Regulations 2013 (as amended) and the new Good Distribution Practice guidelines
  • Establishment of a Quality Management System and Procedures
  • What a VMD inspection entails and what documentation is required
  • Effective temperature monitoring systems, including during transportation
  • Management of Wholesale Dealers Import Certificates (WDIC's) and Special Import Certificates (SICs)
  • Record keeping requirements, including product traceability
  • How to perform effective self-inspections and deal with non-conformances
  • Validation of suppliers and customers
  • Conducting product recalls

The VMD is committed to providing accessible and supportive training to industry.

On completion of the course attendees will be able to confidently create a Quality Management System, to demonstrate compliance with the Regulations, and to ensure that products are obtained, stored, and supplied in a way to ensure safety, quality and efficacy.

The WQP will be better equipped to face the challenges of wholesale distribution, including conducting an effective product recall, and have a greater understanding of what is required for an inspection by the competent authority.
