Victoria Announces First WNCL Squad For New Year

Victoria has named its first squad for 2025 in preparation for its upcoming WNCL matches against the ACT on January 12 and 14.

Chasing their fourth win from just five matches, Andy Christie's side has made one change to last round's squad with Hasrat Gill unavailable due to her Australian U19 World Cup selection.

Meanwhile, Rhys McKenna, Tess Flintoff, Sophie Day, Milly Illingworth and Nicole Faltum will all be available for the clash in Australia's Capital, after representing the Governor-General's XI against England yesterday.

All-rounder Ella Hayward will look to continue her impressive form following her stellar 112-run knock against ladder-leaders, South Australia in December.

The twenty-one-year-old is currently the competition's third highest run scorer, compiling 255 runs from just five matches.

Hayward has been well supported by the experienced Meg Lanning (173 runs) and Captain, Nicole Faltum (152 runs).

Sophie Day continues to impress with the ball, with the left arm orthodox spinner claiming 10 wickets so far this campaign, with the emerging Milly Illingworth (5 wickets) and Tess Flintoff (4 wickets) rounding out the top 3.

Illingworth has been one of a number of emerging players to impress this season, with Rhys McKenna and Olivia Henry also stepping up with both bat and ball.

With play getting underway at EPC Solar Park at 10 AM AEDT, both matches can be seen live on Kayo Sports and cricket.com.au.
