Global Victoria was proud to support Startupbootcamp Melbourne's successful delivery of their first Victoria India Smart Energy Exchange virtually over two legs - an inbound immersion to Victoria for Indian startups in July 2020, and an outbound immersion program to India for Victorian startups in November 2020.
Participants connecting via the Victoria India Smart Energy Exchange Program virtual workshops
The program introduced Victorian startups to major players in India's energy sector that are looking for international partners, and connected Indian startups with world-leading technology to Victoria's energy sectors to facilitate trade, investment and partnership opportunities.
Eight Victorian energy startups - DiUS Powersensor, Edge Electrons, eleXsys Energy, Fohat, Hart Bioenergy , InvertedPower, LexX Technologies and WePower - participated in tailored workshops with Bosch, GE, Schneider, Shell and Tata Power, who joined as the program's Indian corporate partners. The startups also engaged with and were mentored by Manoj Kohli, Country Head of Softbank India and Asia Society Victoria Distinguished Fellow, as well as Victoria's SunPower Renewables , which shared its experience from its own successful entry into the Indian energy market. The companies were onboarded and went through training sessions prior to the immersion week, gaining access to Startupbootcamp's digital learning platform.
"Startupbootcamp and Global Victoria have exceeded my high expectations in delivering this virtual trade mission. Great agenda, great access to industry leaders in India, great ROTI (return on time invested). It was excellent to hear from all the companies." Sundar Iyer, GM - Energy Products and Markets at DiUS
Six Indian scaleups - Agara, Enact Systems, Maximl Labs , REConnect Energy, ExactSpace and Greenovative Energy - joined Startupbootcamp's EnergyTech Hub program in Melbourne for the inbound program. The scaleups learnt how to establish a company in Victoria, explored the strengths of Victoria's and Australia's energy markets and their regulations and structures, and gained direct exposure to the energy market players and the wider energy ecosystem. During this part of the leg, Startupbootcamp facilitated seven energy-focused events, connecting the startups with more than 330 different organisations both in Australia and internationally.
You can view the keynote address from Manoj Kohli, Country Head of Softbank India and Asia Society Victoria Distinguished Fellow and the full startup showcase online via the Victoria India Smart Energy Exchange Program virtual mission homepage.
The virtual program was delivered as part of Victoria's India Strategy helping Victoria and India continue to strengthen connections through innovation and commercial opportunities. Global Victoria will continue to support Victorian businesses to access global opportunities through virtual trade missions in 2021 as part of the Victorian Government's $15.7 million Export Recovery Package.
