This year, VU is expanding its Open Day events to include its Sunshine Campus in addition to events held at Footscray Park on Ballarat Road and the 32-storey City Tower campus on Little Lonsdale Street.
Each campus will be buzzing with excitement as VU celebrates the diversity of its courses, facilities, and student activities. Footscray Park and Sunshine Open Day events are set for Sunday, August 18, and City Tower will be held on Sunday, August 25.
Sunshine Open Day will be the first at this campus, providing visitors with an exclusive look at VU's multi-million-dollar trade training centre, Construction Futures, and the state-of-the-art Sunshine Skills Hub. These facilities include largescale construction training spaces, purpose-built innovation zones, 3D printing facilities, a high-tech nursing simulation lab, and a paramedics lab equipped with an ambulance pod.
At Footscray Park visitors can tour the sports lab, TV studio and Engineering labs, while at the City Tower campus they can experience the sky-high student lounge and public clinics offering hair, beauty, massage, osteopathy, and dermal services, each with hands-on displays and demonstrations.
VU offers an extensive range of courses at TAFE, undergraduate, and postgraduate levels, covering fields from trades to business, education to sports, and law to engineering. Across each of the three campuses, visitors can explore hundreds of stands showcasing a wide array of course and career options, engage in conversations with lecturers, current students, and representatives from partner organizations, and participate in interactive workshops, presentations, and panel sessions.
Each Open Day will provide comprehensive information on admissions and enrolments, highlighting our award-winning VU Block Model of teaching and learning. This model, which emphasizes greater support, has resulted in improved grades, retention, and student satisfaction, helping more students succeed in their university studies than ever before.
Career-changers and those returning to study can apply directly on the spot at Open Day, while secondary school students can learn about the VU Conditional Offer program which provides an offering into the course of their choosing, as well as other benefits, like gym access and additional study materials.
Visitors can register online to confirm their attendance and prepare for Open Day in advance with a personalized VU Open Day planner tool. Additionally, all registered attendees will be entered into a drawing to win $1,000 study grant to kick-start their VU experience.
In a new initiative for 2024, VU will plant a native seedling for every registered Open Day attendee as an extension of our community tree planting project and ongoing commitment to sustainability.
