The confronting behaviour of Victorian Police in physically dragging a woman from her car at a coronavirus checkpoint was reminiscent of Germany's Gestapo, Clive Palmer said today.
"The behaviour of the Andrews Labor Government's police is not what we expect from a free and democratic society, more like Heinrich Muller of the Gestapo,'' Mr Palmer said.
"The police should be there to support and protect the community. This latest ugly act is further depleting what little community goodwill they still have in Victoria."
The incident follows the arrest of a pregnant mother at her home, handcuffed in her pyjamas, in front of her husband and child over a Facebook post.
Mr Palmer said the matters highlighted the level at which the Andrews' Labor Government was tampering with the rights of Australians.
"His Government is allowing the police to use excessive powers,'' he said.
"They are following the direction of the Andrews Government and Victoria's Chief Health Officer which in the near future will be seen as unlawful.
"Is his police force run by thugs or does he have an ulterior motive?
"These police are clearly crossing the line and taking the law into their own hands. They should face the full force of the law for their actions."
Mr Palmer said the State Labor Governments run by Palaszczuk, Andrews and McGowan were seeking to divide the country.
"How much more damage to families and society will be caused by Labor's irrational policies and decision making?" he said.
"We need the borders opened so we can start rebuilding the economy."
