Victorian Schools Prepare For Major Upgrades

Victorian schools are gearing up for a summer of maintenance works to ensure students continue to learn in the best world-class facilities thanks to the Allan Labor Government.

Minister for Education Ben Carroll today announced 77 schools would share in more than $26 million of funding to undertake 78 projects such as fixing roofs and replacing windows, painting, and resurfacing floors, as well as some external works like improving pathways.

The works are being delivered as part of the Planned Maintenance Program - with projects chosen through a rolling facilities evaluation process, which provides up-to-date information on the condition of schools to create a faster and more targeted allocation of funding.

Since 2014, the Labor Government has invested $16.9 billion in building new schools and more than 2,200 school upgrades, creating around 26,000 jobs in construction and associated industries.

The Labor Government is also getting on with the job of building new schools as we gear up to open 100 new schools by 2026, with 75 new schools opening between 2019 and 2024.

We are building and upgrading the Education State so every student can access a great local school and a quality education no matter where they live.
