Several Victorian umpires continue to be rewarded with State and National appointments this summer, showcasing their continued development through Cricket Victoria's Umpire Development Pathways.
Experienced and highly regarded Victorian CA contracted umpires Phil Gillespie and Shawn Craig have consistently officiated in the Sheffield Shield, One Day Cup, and BBL throughout the summer. Meanwhile, Daryl Brigham, in his first season as a CA contracted umpire, has officiated in the Australia A vs India A Women's Series, Australia U19 Women's series, WBBL, Toyota Second XI and the upcoming Australia A vs English Lions Men's 4-day match.
In the WNCL, Lisa McCabe, Clare Haysom, Chris Grant, Ashfaq Ali, Malcolm Wood, and Gaurav Bawa have all been appointed to officiate in matches this season. Lisa, Clare, and Chris were also regular umpires throughout the WBBL.
On the National stage, Shawn Craig served as the 4th Umpire during the Boxing Day Test and is set to feature again throughout the Women's Ashes as an on-field Umpire and 3rd Umpire for 2 ODIs and 3rd Umpire for the historic Day-Night Test match at the MCG.
The Women's Ashes will also feature Lisa McCabe, operating as the 4th Umpire for 2 ODIs and the Day-Night Test at the MCG, and Phil Gillespie as an on-field Umpire for 1 ODI and 1 T20.
Further, the upcoming Women's Tour Match between the Governor General XI and England will not only feature a host of Victorian players, but also Clare Haysom as an on-field Umpire and Lisa McCabe as 3rd Umpire.
Cricket Victoria Head of Umpiring and Community Coaching Ben Brennan said these appointments are testament to the work-ethic of our Umpires continuing to develop their skills through Cricket Victoria's Umpire Development Pathways.
"Umpiring at the top-level takes a lot of dedication, patience, and training, and our Umpires keep proving they've got the skills and qualities needed to succeed at both State and National levels," Mr Brennan said.
"On behalf of Cricket Victoria, we wish all our Umpires every success for their upcoming appointments".
