Victoria's Unemployment Rate Is Rising Under Labor

Liberal Party Victoria

New data released by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) has confirmed Victoria's unemployment rate has risen to 4.6 per cent.

For the past four months, Victoria has had the highest unemployment of any state in the country.

Victoria's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate of 4.6 per cent is greater than New South Wales (4.0 per cent), Queensland (4.3 per cent), Western Australia (3.7 per cent), Tasmania (4.3 per cent) and South Australia (4.3 per cent).

Following a decade of financial mismanagement, the Allan Labor Government is on track to rack up $187.8 billion of debt by mid-2027. Daily interest repayments on this debt will reach $26 million over this period.

Shadow Treasurer, Brad Rowswell, said: "For the past four months Victoria has led the nation in unemployment, signalling declining confidence from Victorian employers about the economic road ahead for this state.

"Instead of pushing Victorian businesses to breaking point with the highest taxes and most red tape in the country, the Allan Government needs to shift gears by cutting taxes and backing commerce-led growth.

"Labor cannot manage money, cannot manage our economy and Victorians are paying the price."
