While maintaining within the existing footprint, the time-worn facilities will be upgraded using natural local and sustainable materials, seeking to respect the historical importance of the Lake.
Maximising safety and the overall experience for all park users is crucial now and into the future, ensuring the sanctity of swimmers' safety with non-motorised watercraft usage on the Lake.
The traditional lands of Lake Eacham and surrounding rainforests are Culturally significant. The Department has been engaging with local First Nations peoples, ensuring to safeguard the ancestral and ecological heritage for generations to come.
Deputy Director-General of Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service and Partnerships Ben Klaassen said the proposed changes to Lake Eacham are set to enhance both the safety and the overall experience for all park users.
"Our focus is on creating suitable infrastructure, such as paths for improved access to the water and extensive facilities, catering to the diverse needs of our visitors.
"Prioritising the protection of the unique Cultural and Natural values has been considered in the design.
