  • Season three of BINGE original drama series The Twelve has been commissioned
  • The critically acclaimed series is now in production in Western Australia's South West
  • Production is expected to create jobs for around 150 WA crew members and employ about 1,000 extras

The critically acclaimed, award-winning series The Twelve has been given the green light for season three and is now in production in the South West of Western Australia.

The Twelve focuses on twelve jurors as they wrestle with their duty to deliver a verdict while navigating their own personal issues, a unique premise which has captured viewers. Sam Neill will return for season three to reprise his role of Brett Colby SC as the mystery of a murder connected to a cold case and the lives of the jury unravel throughout the trial.

Shot in the Wheatbelt, season two was the highest budget production ever to be filmed entirely in Western Australia and the first series to kick off the WA Production Attraction Incentive.

Season three will be filmed in the South West's Margaret River region and also on location at the ABC Studios in Perth.

More than 650 jobs were created as part of season two of The Twelve, and BINGE, Warner Bros. International Production Australia and Easy Tiger Production's partnership with Screenwest and the WA Production Attraction Incentive delivered $9.6 million to the WA economy.

The continued partnership for season three is expected to deliver $10 million to the local economy and provide 21 weeks of continuous employment for production crews and 14 weeks for on-set crews.

Comprising studio and location-based work, The Twelve will add depth and experience for our local workforce at an important stage of development for the WA Screen Industry Strategy, ahead of the opening of the Perth Film Studios in 2026.

Seasons one and two launched to critical reviews, with the first season receiving 10 nominations, and winning three AACTA Awards in 2022, including Best Miniseries. It was also the most nominated drama series at the 63rd TV Week Logie Awards winning three TV Week Logie Awards, including Most Outstanding Drama. The Australian series has been sold to multiple territories around the world.

Season three of The Twelvewill be eight one-hour episodes written by Sarah L. Walker, Matt Cameron, Mia Lethbridge, Adele Vuko and Sam Meikle. The series will be set up and directed by Madeleine Gottlieb (Erotic Stories, Latecomers) and Mark Joffe (Jack Irish), with casting by Kirsty McGregor and Will Pearce. Executive Producers are Sam Neill and Sarah L. Walker, along with producers Hamish Lewis and Michael Brooks from Warner Bros. International Television Production Australia and Ian Collie, Ally Henville and Rob Gibson from Easy Tiger Productions.

As stated by Culture and the Arts Minister David Templeman:

"I am delighted that The Twelve will be returning to screens for season three and that filming will once again be in our great State.

"The legacy of the production returning to WA for another season enables continuity of work for WA screen practitioners, and more opportunities for people establishing a career in film to pursue opportunities in their home state.

"Western Australia has a reputation for supporting outstanding screen content that utilises the variety of locations and character of our State found across nine distinct regions and the metropolitan area."

As stated by Warren-Blackwood MLA Jane Kelsbie:

"I'm delighted to hear that season three of The Twelve is being filmed in the South West.

"We have been lucky enough to have a number of productions filmed in our region, including The Surfer and Scrublands: Silver, and each of them have created such a buzz in the local community.

"The economic boost is fantastic, but the ongoing benefits are even better - as people realise how spectacular the region is, they come and visit and spend their money at our local businesses and stay in our accommodation."
