The Western Australia Joint Anti Child Exploitation Team (WA JACET) has charged a 65-year-old man who allegedly possessed and produced child abuse material online.
On 2 December 2020, officers executed a search of the man's Kardinya home after information received via Crime Stoppers. During the search detectives located and seized various computers and electronic storage devices belonging to the man. It is alleged child exploitation material was identified on some of the seized devices.
The 65-year-old man of Kardinya is next due to appear before the Fremantle Magistrates Court today, 4 January 2021 charged with:-
• Producing Child Exploitation Material – the maximum penalty for this offence is 10 years' imprisonment and
• Possessing Child Exploitation Material – the maximum penalty for this offence is 7 years' imprisonment.
The WA-JACET comprises members of the Western Australia Police Force and Australian Federal Police.
